VH1 Marathons and Snow

Have you ever had one of those days where VH1 is having a marathon of some program and you happen to watch it for the entire day? That happened to me yesterday afternoon. Flipping through the cable menu around 2:30 p.m. or so I came across VH1 America's Next Top Model. I love that show. I pressed the info button and see that it is Cycle 4, meaning last year's show. I see how long the program lasts, it continues until 9 p.m. I had to photograph a wrestling match later at night, that meant I could watch ANTM for a couple of hours.

It had been snowing all day, schools were closed and the roads were bad, I wanted to know if any sporting events would still be held. I turned on the radio at 3 p.m. to see if my co-worker Mike C.'s wrestling match had been cancelled. The radio station went through a bunch of dance classes, nursery school cancellations and then announced that Mike C.'s match had been cancelled. And a surprise for me, my wrestling match had also been cancelled! What a joy to hear. I'm not a big fan of wrestling, so I was happy to hear the news. It was also good news because that meant I could continue to watch ANTM a little longer.

My husband Mike continued to work on the entry way and the stairs (i.e.- blog entry: Paint, dust and dinner....Oh my!). He started to hammer the trim back on the windows and the walls. With my eyes glued on the TV, I kept asking him if he needed my help with anything. (You know to be nice, but I really didn't want to leave the couch) Some time later, he was hammering a long piece of trim up. I asked if he needed me to hold it. He did. I went over to the stairs and held it in place for him while he put in the nails. After Mike got some nails in my assistance was no longer needed. Back to the couch I went. Another half hour went by and Mike was ready to put the railing back on the staircase. Mike asked he to hold the railing in the middle while he screwed in the bottom. After getting it secured to the wall, he went to the top of the stairs to do the same there. He finished and said, "thank you". My work was done. Back to the couch.

Mike told me that he had a union meeting at 6:30 p.m., but he needed to leave at 6 p.m. to Xerox some stuff. He said that he would try to get home as soon as possible to have dinner. During his meeting, I continued watching ANTM but I did leave the couch several times. I had to let the dogs in/out of the house, use the bathroom and check my email. You know, important things. Time flew by while sitting on the couch. Mike came home after 8 p.m., and started dinner. We ate around 8:30 p.m. and that is when the girls on ANTM were walking in a fashion show to determine the winner of Cycle 4, it was between Naima from Detroit, MI and Kahlen from Broken Arrow, OK. Tyra announced Naima the winner of America's Next Top Model and it was 9 p.m. Time for me to go to bed.

I can't believe I watched almost 6 hours straight of TV. VH1 is very smart putting marathons of shows on all the time. Once you watch one hour, you can't stop. It is so addicting!
