Tonight, I had to photograph a basketball game at a Christian school. Before the starting lineups are introduced, they do a prayer then the National Anthem. A woman with a lovely voice was on hand to sing. She started out alright, "Oh, say can you see, by the dawn's early light, What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming? Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight, by the time she got here, she was in trouble. Instead of singing, "O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?" She sang, "And the ramparts," and stopped to say that she forgotten the words in which people laughed. She took a moment to compose herself and finished. I know we can't be perfect all the time, but if she would have continued singing and not said, "I forgot the words," she could have saved herself from being embarrassed.
I finally started my Christmas shopping. Usually I start shopping on December 23rd. I figured while my husband was at work tonight, it was the perfect time to go. I picked up a few items for him. I still have to buy for my hubby, my sisters, mother, and nephews. That will be continued on another day.
Walking into the mall to go shopping, I noticed a girl in a dress along with her date. The girl was posing with her date while a parent was taking their picture. I assumed the couple finished eating dinner at Garfield's (a restaurant in the mall) and decided to walk around and take pictures. I never understood why anyone would want to walk around the mall in your dress/suit/tux before a dance? Is it because the girls want to show off their dress? Walk off the big meal before the dance? The dance hasn't started yet? Or is it because the couple really doesn't want to waste their time at the school dance? Ahhh, high school.
