Thursday evening a huge snow storm passed over Michigan. Before it left it dumped seven inches of snow in Adrian. At work this morning, another photographer went out to photograph people shoveling snow or doing something involving snow. While on his way back into the office and talking on his cell phone with me, a prison break is announced over the police scanner. Two men escaped from Gus Harrison Correctional Facility and were now seen running away at Adrian Landfill (which is down the road). The dispatchers then said that the two escapees were now in a car with a civilian driving them seen driving on US 223. (Later, we find out that the two inmates kidnapped an old man and made him drive).
My coworker calls me from the road saying that he is behind police cars heading toward Blissfield. While trying to get there, he gets stuck behind a county snow plow. Lenawee County Sheriff's Department, Michigan State Police and Blissfield Police Departments are now involved in a chase to catch back up with the inmates. The inmates pull into a grocery store parking lot in Blissfield and are caught very quickly. One of the inmates fell and hurt his leg and had to be taken to the hospital.
So it was a good morning. The police get their men, we got awesome photographs and we had breaking news on the front page. Not bad. Not bad at all.
