Hello... we were in the middle of a conversation

I had to photograph a basketball game at Adrian High School last night. I got there during the JV game to talk to the sportswriter, because I haven't seen him in a couple of days. We were having a conversation, then out of nowhere comes this guy that the sportswriter knows. He walks over to the sportswriter and said hi and sat down and started talking to him. Hello? We were not talking? The sportswriter was turned to his left talking to me and you, the douchebag, barge right in and start talking. The friend that barged in talked to the sportswriter for 5 minutes or so. During the conversation, the sportswriter turns to me and rolls his eyes (he also finds it annoying and sometimes he really doesn't want to talk to them). Finally, the friend got up and went to sit with his family.

This isn't the first time that has happened and it won't be the last. At every game that I'm talking to that sportswriter, people will come up and talk to him. Do they not see me talking to him? Or they just choose to ignore that fact?

If I have to break into a conversation, I say, "sorry to interrupt", get what I need, then leave. Obviously these people don't even think to do that. I don't mind that people that the sportswriter know want to stop say hello or chat with him. But please, if you walk up and stop our conversation at least say something to apologize for interrupting. Thanks for understanding.
