I ran my last race of the year on November 10th, Fall Into Fitness 5K. I finished in 25:54.I stayed for the awards ceremony. The race director said that they were going to hand out prizes to the overall men's and women's winners and the top two individuals in each age group. The RD started reading out results for the ladies first. When I heard I wasn't one of the top two women in the 30-34 age group, I left.
I checked for the results online the next day and they weren't listed yet. I checked for the next two weeks and nothing was listed. I figured that the results weren't going to be listed online this year. A co-worker asked me last week if I ran the Fall Into Fitness race. I said I did. He said that the results were sent in. I looked at the handout and found out that I was third in my age group. Besides placing third in my age group, I was the sixth overall woman out of 89.
I didn't know I placed that high among the ladies. I can't believe how far I come in just a couple of years. I went from running in the back, finishing almost last or last to finishing near the top. It is a great feeling knowing that my dedication to running has paid off.
