I forced myself to run outside during the early afternoon. Usually the time I like to run is in the late afternoon. I knew if I didn't run around 1:30 pm today, that I wouldn't get in my run. Who likes to run after photographing a softball and baseball game for over 2.5 hours?
My afternoon run was slow. My legs were very tired and I got stomach cramps about 2 miles into my run. After I got the cramps, I took a short walking break. Even though the run wasn't the greatest it did give me some good news. With my 3.5 mile run this afternoon, I crossed 300 miles run for the year!
Its very exciting to hit that mark only four months into the year. With my spring sports schedule of photographing games Monday through Friday between the hours of 3:30 and 8 pm, it makes it harder to get in my daily runs. (In the mornings, I work every M-F from 4:30/5 am until 11/11:30 am in the office. Its safe to say my days are busy.) Take example yesterday, I planned to run 6 miles outside on my night off. My plans changed when my brother and sister wanted me to help them unload my late grandmother's possessions at our rental storage unit. After 2.5 hours of lifting and carrying boxes and furniture, I was tired. To make up for the fact I was tired, I only ran 3 miles instead of 6.
Until the spring sports season is over, I have to make the time to squeeze in runs in the available time that I have. I hope when August rolls around my mileage will be in the neighborhood of 600.
