Michigan football

Michigan Wolverines football team defeated Rutgers Scarlet Knights Saturday evening 49-16.  Michigan's record is now 7-2. The Wolverines moved up one spot in the AP Poll to #15.

Michigan will travel to Indiana Saturday to play the Hoosiers at 3:30 p.m.

Big Ten Cross Country Championships

The Michigan Wolverines men's cross country team won the Big Ten Championship Sunday in Chicago, Illinois. The Wolverines won the 8K race with a team total of 63 points over second place Illionis, who had 81 points.

Matt McClintock from Purdue was the individual champion winning in 23:12.1 over Michigan's Mason Ferlic (23:19.6). Michigan placed three runners in the top 10 to secure the title: Ferlic (2nd), Ben Flanagan (8th - 23:42.6) and Tony Smoragiewicz (9th - 23:43.6).

On the women's side, Michigan's Erin Finn was the individual winner in 19:44.9. Finn is now a two time Big Ten Champion. Coming in second behind Finn was Michigan State's Alexis Wiersma in 19:49.9. Despite Finn's individual win, Penn State won the Big Ten team championship. Penn State defeated Michigan 53-58 to win the title. Penn State and Michigan both had three runners in the top 10. Penn State just had higher finishes. Wolverine runners that placed in the top 10 were Finn (1st), Jaimie Phelan (8th - 20:17.2) and Gina Sereno (10th - 20:18.4). Penn State's runners placed fourth, sixth and ninth to secure the victory.

The Wolverines will run again Friday, November 13 at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional in Madison, Wisconsin at 1 p.m. ET.

Michigan football

The Michigan Wolverines football team defeated Minnesota Golden Gophers Saturday night 29-26 in Minnesota. The Wolverines stopped the Gophers on the goal line as time ran out to hold on to the win. With the win, the Wolverines won the Little Brown Jug back. Even though the Wolverines won the game, they fell one spot in the AP Poll from#15 to #16.

Michigan will host Rutgers Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

Michigan football

The Michigan Wolverines football team dropped in the rankings Sunday following the 27-23 loss to #7 Michigan State Saturday. Michigan (5-2) was #12 in the country last week, this week the Wolverines drop three positions to #15.

Michigan has a bye this weekend and will play again on Saturday, October 31 at Minnesota at 8 p.m. ET.

NCAA Cross Country Pre-Nationals

The University of Michigan, fifth ranked, women's cross country team won the NCAA Pre-Nationals Saturday in Louisville, Kentucky at the E.P. Tom Sawyer Park. This course is the site of the 2015 Cross Country NCAA Championships on November 21.

Michigan placed four runners in the top 40 and won with a total of 131 points. Colorado was second with 151 points and Oregon was third with 175 points.

Michigan's Erin Finn led early in the 6000 meter race, but ended up finishing in sixth place with a time of 20:09.1. Winning the race was Colorado's Erin Clark in 20:00.5. Michigan's other top finishers were Shannon Osika (13th - 20:16.5), Gina Serno (35th - 20:37.4), Jaimie Phelan (38th - 20:40.1) and Anna Pasternak (52nd - 20:46.4).

Michigan runs again Friday at the EMU Classic at the Mills Metropark in Dexter, Michigan.

Game 5

The Minnesota Lynx defeated Indiana Fever Wednesday 69-52 in Game 5 of the WNBA Finals to win the WNBA Championship. With the win, the Lynx won their third WNBA title in five years. The first two championships were celebrated on the road. This was the first time the team was able to celebrate at home with their fans at the Target Center in Minneapolis.

Sylvia Fowles, the Finals MVP, scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Seimone Augustus chipped in with 16 points.

The Lynx celebrated with a parade and party today. The parade will end at the Target Center where a celebration took place.

Game 4

The Indiana Fever women's basketball team defeated Minnesota Lynx 75-69 Sunday to force the series to a Game 5 in the WNBA Finals.

The Fever were behind in the series to Minnesota 2-1 Sunday. If the Lynx won, the series would have ended. The Fever were able to hold off the Lynx in Game 4 to tie the series at two games a piece. With the series tied, the winner of tonight's game will be in the WNBA champions.

Shenise Johnson scored 15 points and Marissa Coleman had 14 points to lead the way for the Fever. Minnesota's Maya Moore led all scorers with 20 points. 

Game 5 will be played tonight in Minnesota at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN 2.

Michigan football

Michigan Wolverines, #18 AP Poll,  football team defeated Northwestern , #13 AP Poll, Saturday, 38-0. It was the third consecutive shutout since 1980. The Wolverines scored one touchdown on offense, defense and special teams in the same game for the first time since 2003. Michigan racked up 380 total yards, 201 rushing and 179 passing, and held Northwestern to 168 total yards. On Sunday, Michigan moved up in the AP Poll to #12.

Michigan hosts Michigan State next week at 3:30 p.m. on ESPN.

Game 3

Game 3 of the WNBA finals takes place tonight in Indianapolis at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN 2. The series between Indiana Fever and Minnesota Lynx is tied at one game a piece.

I am a fan of both teams, but I would like to see Minnesota win the game and the series.

WNBA Finals

The WNBA Finals Game 1 took place Sunday in Minneapolis, Minnesota between the Indiana Fever and the Minnesota Lynx. How the teams reached the finals: Indiana Fever defeated the New York Liberty 66-51 in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals last Tuesday. The Minnesota Lynx defeated the Phoenix Mercury 72-71 Sunday, September 27 to sweep the in the Western Conference Finals series.

The Fever defeated the Lynx 75-69 in a very close Game 1. Briann January was the leading scorer for the Fever with 19 points, six assists, four rebounds and two steals. Marissa Coleman added another 16 points for Indiana as well. The Lynx's Maya Moore led all scorers with 27 points and 12 rebounds.

Game 2 of the WNBA Finals will be played Tuesday in Minneapolis at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN 2.
