Twice this week, the track meets I was supposed to photograph were canceled. I can understand canceling on the day that it was snowing, raining and below freezing. But yesterday it was breezy, cloudy and the rain stopped a couple of hours before the meet was supposed to start. When I pulled up to the track and saw the track team out running practice, I was disappointed. They can run practice outside, but not run in a meet? What is up with that? When I was in high school, I remember running in a hale storm and heavy downpours. Its not the same as it used to be.
My first 5K of the year is April 22. Usually I send my money in a month early, this time I have been dragging my feet. For some reason I thought I had a couple of weeks to get ready for the 5K. While talking on the phone with another runner, he informed me that the race is next Sunday. As soon as I got home from work, I filled out the entry form and wrote out the check. This will be the fourth year that I have run this particular 5K. It would be nice on race day if it would be sunny and warm. For the last three years, it has been cold, windy or raining on race day but that is typical Michigan weather.
Congratulations to ST! Today was his last day at the paper in Adrian. ST will be leaving us because he got a new job in Lansing at the State Journal. It has been a pleasure working with you. Good luck at the LSJ.
