I'm a photographer. I usually cover sports. Most people, I hope, like to do their job without being interrupted. In my line of work, that rarely happens. I get the stupid questions like, "What kind of camera is that?, Is that digital?, What kind of lens is that?" I know people are curious, but get away from me. While working I like to concentrate on what I'm doing. No time for questions, please!
I covered a small class D school basketball game last night. The gym is really small. You know it's small because if you are sitting on the bench your feet are on the court. I stood in a corner that led into a hallway to more seating. Standing in the opening of the hall gave me a little bit more room to move around and get shots. Since I was standing in the hallway that lead to a seating area, I have to deal with people walking in and out of the gym going to the restroom, concession stand and so on. Most people tried to walk behind me, some waited until I finished taking a picture and the other people just walked right in front of me. Usually the people walking in front of me were students. Adults walk behind me or wait. Do students/teenagers not pay attention to what is happening around them? Do they have blinders on? I have the camera up to my face. No, I'm not taking a picture, I just like to hold it there. GRRR!
Not only does the walking in front of my camera irritate me, but also when they are walking by and a body part hits my camera, lens or flash. Could you not bump into that? Last night, two teenage girls walked by me and one of them hit my flash. She said sorry. That's nice but does it help if the shoe that holds the flash on my camera breaks? I mean how hard is it to walk by without hitting or bumping into my camera? My equipment is very expensive and unless you plan on paying for repairs, be careful or just stay away.
